Take That!

HERE is a link to a video of an interview with Apple's Steve Jobs from the 2007 "All Things Digital" conference in NYC. There is some very interesting information in this interview about most of Apple's offerings. If you are an Apple fan you should definitely watch.
The best part comes at the end of the clip when Steve is talking about iTunes being one of the best applications available for the Windows operating system. He said, "It's like giving a glass of ice water to someone in hell!"
So true! I love it!

Straw that broke the camel's back

I just ran across THIS.
Universal Orlando and Warner Brothers are combining to open a "Harry Potter Theme Park".
What is it Bart Simpson says, "Ay carumba!" I was hoping since this year the final book in the Harry Potter series is coming out that maybe things would start winding down. I was wrong.
Well, I'll take solace in the fact that there aren't any plans for a "Lord of the Rings" theme park. Now that would really push me over the edge.
So, place this in the, "Things that could make me become a terrorist" file.
Moving on...

CAMIE Awards

The CAMIE awards are an award for films, both theatrical and television, that are created with 'Character' and 'Morality' in 'Entertainment'.
Here are some of the 2007 winners:

Akeelah and the Bee
Charlotte's Web
Eight Below

TV
Candles on Bay Street
The Water is Wide

I am glad to hear that amongst all the award shows foisted upon us each year there is one that focuses on good uplifting entertainment. I have seen many of the winners and now have a LIST of others to rent and watch with my family knowing they will be safe and of good quality.
Bravo to those who are championing the Camie awards effort. A breath of fresh air in the sullied cacophony that is currently 'Hollywood'.

one thousand words

What is it they say, "A picture is worth a thousand words." Here's one that might be worth millions.
This pic is from the entryway to Microsoft's Zune headquarters.

There's maybe a dozen iPods in there. At least one empty iPod case and from the looks of it several of them are 1st gen iPods.
Maybe it's just me, and maybe it's just cuz I think the Zune is a ridiculous joke, and my belief that the 'M' in Microsoft stands for 'mediocre, but if that's the best they can do maybe it's time to pack it up and call it a day. After all, MS is very good at doing just that.

Stupid Ideas

Put THIS in the column of ideas that sound good but are stupid. Nokia is releasing a cell phone with a built in 'lightning proximity detector'. What the freak? So, you're out strolling in the meadow and your cell phone rings and you answer it and it says, "look out! Lightning!" And then what? You duck? Come on! If you're out strolling in a meadow or on a golf course I think you would know if there were a chance of lightning nearby. Just a couple of clues:

1. Dark clouds
2. Blowing wind
3. Heavy rain
4. Unmistakable sound of THUNDER!

Now, if you could set the lightning warning to use the sound of thunder and vibrate your phone at the same time, that might be cool. ;)

Global Warming?

I saw this article on Al Gore in TIME today. The above picture amazed me for two reasons. 1. I would love to have his Mac rig. 2. Maybe if he used a smaller screen setup we could save a few glaciers from melting.
Do as I say and not as I do!
