Festival of the Trees

There is a holiday tradition in our family. We started by attending the Festival of the Trees in Salt Lake City every December. This is a festival where people decorate trees, wreaths and gingerbread houses to be auctioned off to support the Primary Childrens Medical Center in SLC. We then grew a desire to be a part of the giving and started purchasing a small tree and a wreath in the last few years. This year we went all out and we built and donated a large tree to the festival. It was a family affair with several members of our family participating in building the tree.

Most of the 700 trees at the festival are your standard 'fake' tree. We just couldn't follow the crowd. It's a family tradition (genetic flaw) that we just 'HAVE' to be 'different'. So, we made sure we were very different. No questions, no mistakes. So, here are some pics of the tree we donated this year.
It is titled, "Inspire!" and was donated with help from Inspiripics.
The tree has snowflakes hung all over it with pictures of kids from our neighborhood that have been patients at Primary Childrens. Why do we care so much about this? Our 10 year old daughter Shelby has been seen at PCMC for several years now. There is a special place in our hearts for Childrens Hospitals.

Yes, there is a decided Dr. Seuss theme to this tree. Thanks to Raq for making the Cat in the Hat hat for the top and the professionally quilted tree skirt for underneath. And kudos to Dad and his Einstein Design group for the concept and design of the structure of the tree. Doesn't it look great?!?
It is already causing quite a stir on the festival floor.
Hmmm, I wonder what we should do for next year...???

Way cool! Yet another reason to go to the Festival this
year.
